After his father’s death, Leslie Jones is sent to the Boston Farm School on Thompson Island. He subsequently becomes a staff photographer for the Boston Herald-Traveler (1917-1956). Upon his death in 1967, he leaves more than 40,000 glass and film negatives of his photographs to the Boston Public Library – including 2,881 baseball photographs that were digitized and made available online on April 8, 2011.
