John L. Sullivan leaves Boston for an eight-month boxing tour of the U.S.

Thousands of fans surround the Boston & Providence Railroad Station to see the champion off. During his coast-to-coast tour, Sullivan takes on all comers. He returns to Boston on May 26, 1884.
