Jewish Advocate is first published.

Originally the Mount Sinai Monthly and then the Jewish Home Journal, it is published by Jacob de Haas from offices at 170 Summer Street. The first and oldest English-language Jewish publication in continued circulation in the U.S., its purpose is “To inculcate Judaism into the community and progress the cause of the re-establishment of the Jewish faith and a Jewish state.” Originally a monthly, it becomes a weekly in 1905, is purchased by Alexander and Jacob Brinn and moves to Causeway Street in 1917. It is purchased by Rabbi Y.A. Korff and moves to 13 – 15 School Street in 1990, and its last print issue appears on September 25, 2020.
