Jenney Oil Company is established.

Originally the Jenney Manufacturing Company, it is founded by Isaac and Stephen Jenney. Renamed the Stephen Jenney & Company, the factory is converted to the first oil refinery in Boston in 1859 (1861). The company builds a much larger facility on Chelsea Creek in 1930.
