Iraq War (second) begins.

After refusing to allow United Nations inspectors to determine whether Iraq is hiding “weapons of mass destruction,” President George W. Bush signs a Congressional order authorizing the U.S. to go to war with Iraq. U.S. forces attacks Baghdad on March 20, 2003. After some 4,500 American casualties and some 100,000 Iraqi deaths, the war ends in 2011.*
