Independent Chevra Shas is established.

The congregation meets initially on Woodrow Avenue. It subsequently moves to Otisfield Street, then to 65 Ashton Street. When that building is burned down, the congregation moves to Newton in 1970. The site is now the location of the Way of the Cross Church.
