Hyde Park High School (first) is established.

It is located in the Fairmount School. The school moves to rented rooms in Liberty Hall (second) in 1870, to the new Grew School (third) in 1872, and to the Everett School building (fourth) in 1874. It moves to a building (fifth) on Everett Street that later becomes the William Barton Rogers Middle School in 1902,* then to its current building (sixth) on Metropolitan Avenue in 1929.* Graduates include Robert Drinan and William Monroe Trotter. The school is broken up into three smaller learning academies in 2003.
