Howard Watch and Clock Company is built.

The company, which was founded by watchmaker Edward Howard and David Davis in 1847, is located at 214 Eustis Street. It is the first watch factory in the U.S. in Roxbury in 1850. The company is acquired by the Keystone Watch Case Company in 1903 and moves to Waltham in the 1930s.
