Hotel Shelton is built.

1923

Architect: Strickland, Blodget & Lane. Originally the Hotel Sheraton, it is designed in the Classical style and located at 91 Bay State Road. It is renamed the Hotel Shelton when the Henderson family sells it to Hotel Corporation of America. The building includes a rooftop garden that is used for summer concerts. Occupants include playwright Eugene O’Neill, who dies here in 1953.* The building is sold to Boston University, which converts it into a dormitory (currently known as Kilachand Hall), in 1954.
