Henry Pierce is again elected mayor of Boston.

December 11, 1877

Pierce (R), with 25,090 votes, defeats incumbent Frederick Prince (D), with 22,892, and others to again be elected mayor. A resident of 57 Washington Street, the former mayor ran as a “reform” candidate and is inaugurated on January 7, 1878. during his second term in office, he reorganizes the police department , but declines to run for reelection.
