Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. is elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts.

November 5, 1946

Lodge (R) defeats David Walsh (D) to regain the seat he had given up to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II and which Leverett Saltonstall had filled in his stead. Lodge receives 144,471 votes in Boston, and Walsh 126,927. He is defeated for reelection in 1952.*
