Havlicek (John) is born in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio.

John Havlicek graduates from Ohio State University, and plays is first game for the Boston Celtics in 1962,* and goes on to set Celtic career records in points, games, and minutes played, and become known as the best sixth man in basketball history and for one particular play in n 1965.* The day before his retirement on April 10, 1978, Boston Globe sportswriter Will McDonough writes, “He’s the only athlete in this town who’s never been booed.” Havlicek dies in Jupiter, Florida, on April 25, 2019.
