(Nov.) An Allston resident and student at Boston College, Connolly wins the gold medal in the hammer throw. A few months later, he marries Olga Fikatova of Czechoslovakia, the Olympics discus champion. Both participate in the Olympics for the U.S. team in 1960, 1964, and 1968.
