Great Swamp Fight occurs in Rhode Island.

The battle takes place in today’s South Kingston. A force of approximately 1,000 Colonists from Boston and other towns in Massachusetts Bay and New Plymouth, along with 50 Mohegan warriors, attacks a settlement of between 3,000 and 4,000 Narragansett and Wampanoags. After the battle and setting fire to the settlement, an estimated 80 English are killed and 150 to 200 wounded. An estimated 700 to 1,000 natives are killed.
