Friendship takes off from Boston Harbor off East Boston.

June 3, 1928

The seaplane, owned by Amy Guest, is piloted by Wilmer “Bill” Stultz, accompanied by mechanic Lou Gordon and Amelia Earhart. It lands in Trepassey, Newfoundland the next day, and, after waiting for good weather, takes off on June 18th and after flying for 20 hours and 40 minutes lands in the Irish Sea on June 19, 1928 – making Earhart the first woman to complete a trans-Atlantic flight.
