Free Chapel is dedicated.

Originally the Suffolk Street Chapel, it is located at the corner of today’s Shawmut Avenue and Rutland Street. The congregation had moved from the Northampton Street Chapel and met in hall on Canton Street before constructing this building. John Turner Sargent is the first minister. The congregation is dissolved and the building is sold to Swedish Baptists in 1860.
