Franklin (Benjamin) statue is installed.

June 16, 1827

Artist: Richard Greenough. It is installed initially in the Granary Burying Grounds. The first portrait statue in Boston as well as the first bronze statue, it is said to reflect Franklin’s philosophical aspect on the left side of the face and his comical aspect on the right side. The statue is moved to School Street on September 17, 1856, and to its current location in front of Old City Hall on July 7, 1865.
