Fiandaca (Alfred) is born in East Boston.

The son of a tailor and a seamstress, Alfred Fiandaca attends fashion school in New York and the Massachusetts College of Art, and opens his first dress shop two doors from his family home on Maverick Street in 1962. His dresses prove so popular that Boston society women find their way to East Boston until he moves to Newbury Street, then, after 40 years, to Albany Street in 2009. Fiandaca also operates stores in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, and his clients include movie stores and the wives of high-ranking politicians. He marries Carl Bartels in 2012, and dies in Palm Beach, on February 9, 2013.
