Faneuil (Andrew) House is built.

1709

Built for the French Huguenot merchant who arrived in Boston in 1691, it is located near today’s 51 Tremont Street. The home is inherited by his nephew Peter Faneuil in 1738. After his death in 1743, it is purchased by the Loyalist Vassall family. Confiscated during the revolution by the new Commonwealth of Massachusetts, it subsequently is occupied by Lt. Gov. William Phillips. The building is torn down in 1835.
