Enneking (John J.) is born in Minster, Ohio.

John Enneking studies art at Mt. St. Mary’s College in Cincinnati, serves in the Union Army during the civil War, and moves to Boston in 1864. He marries, and moves to 17 Webster Street in approximately 1866. Enneking studies in Europe and becomes acquainted with painters in the Barbizon and Impressionist schools from 1872 to 1876, returns to Boston, and maintains a studio in his Hyde Park home and in at the Studio Building in Boston. He dies in Hyde Park on November 17, 1916.
