Edward Kennedy makes a dramatic return to the U.S. Senate chambers in Washington, D.C.
July 9, 2008
After being diagnosed with brain cancer on May 20, 2008, Sen. Kennedy (D-Mass.) returns to the Senate to cast a critical vote for a bill that would continue to provide funding for doctors who treat Medicare recipients. Passage of the bill had been in doubt, but Kennedy provides the 60th vote for the bill, guaranteeing a veto-proof margin that enables its passage.
