East Boston is annexed by Boston.

The annexation initially includes only Noddles Island (today’s East Boston proper), but as made land is added is subsequently expanded to include Hog/Breeds Island (today’s Orient Heights), Governors Island (today’s Jeffries Point), Apple Island, and Bird Island (today’s Logan Airport). The islands are joined together, expanded, and developed in 1833.* Although planned as an elite suburb, the new area is initially confined to maritime use, becomes a a residential area for arriving immigrants at the turn of the 19th/20th century. A large part of it becomes home to Logan Airport in 1923,* and it is connected to the rest of Boston by tunnels beginning in 1934.*
