Dudley Street Baptist Church (first) is built.
1821
Originally the First Baptist Church in Roxbury, it is located on Dudley Street. William Leverett is the first minister. Members of the congregation are baptized in the nearby Stony Brook. The congregation becomes the Dudley Street Baptist Church and builds a new church (second) near Warren Street in 1853.* It merges with the Centre Street Baptist Church and moves to the Putnam Chapel of the First Church in Roxbury (third) in 1964 and becomes the United Baptist Church in 1967.
