Dr. T. Berry Brazleton of Boston is awarded the Citizens Medal in a ceremony at the White House.

The second highest civilian award is given to the 94-year-old pediatrician who is best known for developing the Neonatal Behavior Assessment Scale to measure physical and neurological responses of newborns. He is a member of the faculty of the Brazleton Institute, a researcher at Children’s Hospital in Boston and professor emeritus at Harvard Medical School.
