Demonstration against recent police shootings across the U.S. of African-American men is held.
April 18, 2015
Nearly 100 people march from the Dudley Police Station to Grove Hall to protest police killings of people of color. The march is sponsored by a new group, Mass Action Against Police Brutality. Prior to the march, Boston police chief William Gross, the first African American to hold that title, shakes hands with march organizer Brock Slatter and tells him, “If people didn’t protest what they felt was injustice, I wouldn’t be here in this capacity today as chief.” Similar demonstrations are held on April 29, 2015, and May 2, 2017.
