Demonstration against the proposed Columbia Gardens housing development is held.
March 12, 1935
More than 300 South Boston residents and property owners demonstrate on the 15th floor office of the Federal building. The U.S. Public Works Authority subsequently chooses a nearby vacant site for the project, which is renamed Old Harbor Village and opens in 1938.* The original site taken becomes home to the Old Colony Housing Development in 1941.*
