Davis (Josiah) House is built.

1804

Architect: Charles Bulfinch. Originally the John Gore House, it is located at 5 Park Street. The house is subsequently purchased by Francis Gray, who lives there from 1843 to 1854. His nephew, William Gray sells it to Josiah Quincy in 1857, who lives here after serving as president of Harvard College. The Quincy family occupies the home for many years. Goodspeed’s bookshop subsequently occupies the basement of the building. It is one of four buildings designed by Bulfinch and then called Park Place and is later demolished.
