Crease (Thomas) House is built.

[1712, renovated 1718] Designed in the Georgian style, it is located on the former site of Anne Hutchinson at today’s 283 Washington Street (3 School Street). The oldest commercial building in today’s U.S., it initially houses the apothecary shop of Thomas Crease on the first floor an his living quarters above and is the oldest commercial building in today’s U.S. The building is converted to a bookstore in 1829.*
