Craigie (Andrew) is born in Boston.

The son of a shipbuilder, Andrew Craigie graduates from Boston Latin School, fights at Bunker Hill, and is appointed the first Commissary and Apothecary of the Colonial Army. Craigie goes on to open a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania and buys what comes to be called the Craigie (later Longfellow) House in Cambridge in 1793.
