Health officials in Wuhan reported the first case of the novel coronavirus, which involves a regular customer of an open-air food market in that city. The first case in the U.S., which involves a man in Washington state who recently returned from a trip to China, is reported on January 21, 2020. The first case in Boston is reported 11 days later.*
