Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts is established.

(Jan.) Formed at a meeting in the home of Mrs. Arthur Shurcliff at 66 Mount Vernon Street, the organization is founded a few months before the American Civil Liberties Union. Its purpose is to protect civil rights including free speech.
