Charlie Card is introduced.

Gov. Mitt Romney introduces the new MBTA electronic fare card at an event on City Hall Plaza. A replacement for the Charlie Ticket, that was introduced on May 17, 2005, they are both named for the well-known song “Charlie on the MTA,” a campaign song written for a Boston mayoral candidate in 1949.
