Charlestown Navy Yard Dry Dock No. 1 is dedicated.

June 24, 1833

Architect: Loammi Baldwin. The first granite dry dock in the U.S., it is the second dry dock in the country (after one in Norfolk, Virginia that opened a week before). The USS Constitution becomes the first ship to use the new dry dock on this day and is the last commissioned ship to use it on March 14, 1975. It is currently being used by the USS Cassin Young.
