Chadwick Lead Works is built.

[1875] Architect: William Preston. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style, the factory is located at 184 High Street. The building includes a Romanesque Tower used to manufacture lead shot by dropping molten balls of lead from the top that cool by the time they reach the bottom. The building is renovated and converted to office use in 1981.
