Bunker Hill Monument cornerstone is laid.
June 17, 1825
Some 100,000 people, including Lafayette and other veterans of the Revolutionary Ward, attend the event. Daniel Webster delivers the oration. Construction of the monument is sponsored by the Bunker Hill Monument Association, which is not completed until 1843.*
