Bulfinch Pavilion at Massachusetts General Hospital opens.

September 3, 1821

Architect: Charles Bulfinch. Designed in the Classical style and built of Chelmsford granite, it is located at 55 Fruit Street. The oldest hospital building in the U.S., the building is enlarged with two wings by George Perkins in 1846, and completed in 1923.
