Brown (Louis D.) Peace Institute Memorial Buttons are first issued.
1994
Named for a 15-year-old boy killed by a stray bullet in 1993, the initial buttons include a picture of a homicide victim and the words, “Save the Children.” Subsequent buttons include the name of victims, their dates of birth and death. A Traveling Memorial Button Project banner, containing all of the buttons, is displayed at the institute’s annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace.
