Brighton-Allston residents petition to be annexed by Boston.
December 19, 1871
The petition is signed by 37 prominent citizens, including businessmen Horace Jordan, Benjamin Franklin Ricker, William Wirt Warren, and George Wilson. Brighton town meeting endorses annexation in January 1972, but a petition opposing annexation signed by 170 citizens, led by Abel Rice, is sent to the legislature in February 1872.
