Brigham and Women’s Hospital allows women to use nitrous oxide in childbirth.

Also called laughing gas, the drug has been used since 1881. It is used today by half or more of all women giving birth in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, but Brigham and Women’s is the first Boston hospital to utilize nitrous oxide in childbirth.
