Boylston Hall and Market is built.

1811

Architect: Charles Bulfinch. It is located above Boylston Market at todays 2 Boylston Street. John Quincy Adams laid the cornerstone in 1809. The first floor market is topped by a second floor hall that hosts concerts, museum exhibits and occasional plays and it becomes the home of the Handel and Haydn Society for 22 years. It is briefly known as the New York Museum in 1812 then as Savage’s Museum in 1814. The building is demolished in 1888. Its clock and cupola are used in a church subsequently built in Arlington.
