Boston Streets are first required to be named.

(Sept.) Town meeting instructs the Selectmen to “assign and affix Names unto the Severall streets & Lanes within this Town, so as they shall jdg meet and convenient.” The effort to name the town’s 110 streets, lanes, and alleys is completed on May 3, 1708.
