Boston Redskins lose in the National Football League championship game in New York City.

Boston loses to the Green Bay Packers 21-6 at the Polo Grounds. The team had beaten the Pittsburgh Pirates to win the Eastern Division championship at Fenway Park on November 29, 1936, but the championship game was moved to New York because of poor attendance in Boston. Team owner George Marshall moves the team to Washington, D.C. a month later. and the franchise finally changes its nickname to the Commanders in 2020.
