Boston Red Sox win the World Series.
October 16, 1912
The Red Sox beat the New York Giants 3-2 in 10 innings of game 8 at Fenway Park to win the series, thanks to errors by the Giants’ Fred Merkle and Fred Snodgrass. Game 2 of the series ended in a tie. Game 7 was marred by mix-up at the box office when the Red Sox failed to hold tickets that had been reserved for the team’s most impassioned fans, the Royal Rooters.
