Boston Red Sox sign-stealing report is issued.
January 13, 2020
Produced by Major League Baseball, the report finds that video replay J.T. Watkins violated regulations by using in-game technology “to revise sign sequence information that he had permissibly provided to players prior to the game” during some regular season games in 2018. Subsequently widely criticized as a “whitewash,” the report did not find any wrongdoing in the 2018 World Series and does not fault manager Alex Cora, already suspended from baseball for his role in sign-stealing with the Houston Astros in 2017, or any other members of the Red Sox organization.
