Boston Municipal Research Bureau is established.

[2/3-Galvin] Founded by Russell Codman, Henry Shattuck, and others, the non-partisan organization is modeled after similar organizations previously established in New York and Philadelphia. in 1913. Its purpose is to analyze Boston’s fiscal, management, and administrative practices. Bentley Warren is the first chairman. Henry Shattuck serves as chairman from 1947 to 1959 [1932-1948-Galvin] and Joseph Slavet as executive secretary from 1949 to 1962. At the organization’s 60th anniversary in May 1992, long-time president Sam Tyler describes the love-hate relationship between the bureau and the city, saying, “They love us when we say nice things, they hate us when we’re critical.”
