Boston Fire Department is ordered by the U.S. District to implement affirmative action measures

U.S. District court orders the action as a result of a suit brought by the Boston Society of Vulcans made up of minority firefighters. The parties in the case enter into a consent decree that increases the number of minorities in the department and ends in 2003.
