Celtics beat the St. Louis Hawks 125-123 in double overtime in game 7 at Boston Garden. Rookies Tom Heinsohn, with 37 points and 23 rebounds, and Bill Russell, with 19 points and 32 rebounds, lead the Red Auerbach-coached team to the first of 11 championships in the next 13 years, the greatest dynasty in sports history.
