Boston Beacons play an exhibition game at Fenway Park.

The Beacons lose 7-1 to Santos FC of Brazil before 18,431 fans. It is the first Boston appearance for Santos star player Pelé, who is involved in every goal scored by his team. The crowd is said to be the largest for a soccer game in the Boston area since the 1930s and is credited with helping established professional soccer in the region.
