Boston American and New York Journal is first published.

It is published by William Randolph Hearst from offices at 80 – 82 Summer Street. A sensationalist, nationalistic paper, it becomes the Boston Evening American on April 15, 1905, merges with the Daily Advertiser and Record and becomes a tabloid in 1921, then merges with the Record to become the Record American in 1961. It moves to 309 Washington Street, then to 5 Winthrop Square in 1961. The paper ceases publication in 1972 [1961-BJT].
