Bethseda Society and Penitent Females’ Refuge Society is established.

It is located at 32 Rutland Street. The purpose of the organization is to serve “fallen women and wayward girls,” with their acceptance “conditional upon an expression of a sincere desire to reform.” The building becomes the South End Music School in 1914 and Project Place in 1970.
